Je M'endors (The French Blues)

from Hybrid Vigor by Beth Patterson

/

about

Traditional

This is a Cajun song I used to play with my mother when we were in a band together, Renaissance 'Cadienne, in my native Lafayette, Louisiana. It's sort of a "lonesome cowboy" type of ballad.

lyrics

Je m'endors, je m'endors
Et j'ai soif et j'ai faim
Le soleil est couché
Je suis bien loin de la maison
Quavez-vous, mes belles blondes?
Quavez-vous, mes belles brunes?
C'est toutes pour la blonde
Et a rien pour la brune

Oh les gens du Crowley
Sont toujours dans le chemin
Sont toujours dans le chemin
Oui chercher à mal faire
Avec le jug au plombeau
Et les ferrailles à la poche
Toujours dans le chemin
Oui, chercher à mal faire
